Talk the way you talk. Get the text you meant.怎么说都行，粘贴的是你想写的。

Hold Right Option and speak — switch languages mid-sentence, say "um", restart a thought. Yap transcribes, drops the filler, fixes punctuation, and pastes.

Two commands, or one download.两行命令，或者直接下载。

Homebrew installs Yap and keeps it updated; the app also updates itself. Builds are signed with a stable self-signed certificate but not notarized; Homebrew clears the quarantine flag for you.

Across your Macs跨 Mac 同步

The same setup on every Mac.每台 Mac 同一套设置。

Modes, prompts, dictionary and shortcuts live in one file, ~/.config/yap/config.json. Turn on Sync via Yap Cloud and every Mac signed in to your account keeps it the same.

Yap collects no usage data. Transcripts stay on your Mac.Yap 不收集使用数据。转写记录只存在这台 Mac 上。

Everything stays on this Mac.
Your own API key
Audio and text go only to the provider you choose.

Audio and text pass through Yap's server on the way to the model provider; the server records the model and cost for billing, not the content.

If you turn it on, your modes, prompts, dictionary, shortcuts and custom models are stored on Yap's server too — never your API keys.

FAQ

Questions常见问题

Is Yap free?
The app is free and open source. You pay only for cloud transcription: through Yap Cloud or your own OpenRouter key. Local models cost nothing.
Which languages does it understand?
English, Chinese, and both in the same sentence — that's what the default setup is tuned for. Other languages depend on the model you choose.
Does it work offline?
Yes, with a local model such as NVIDIA's Parakeet, downloaded in Settings. Yap Cloud and API keys need a connection.
Why does macOS ask for Microphone and Accessibility?
Microphone to hear you; Accessibility to paste into the app you're using. Screen Recording is optional: it lets Yap read what's on screen to spell names right.
How is Yap different from VoiceInk?
Yap is a fork of VoiceInk. It adds Yap Cloud, settings in a synced config file, and a setup tuned for mixed Chinese–English dictation. VoiceInk is the official, notarized app.
Why isn't the app notarized?
Releases are signed with the same self-signed certificate every time, so macOS keeps your permissions across updates, but they aren't notarized by Apple (that needs a paid Apple Developer account). Installing with Homebrew avoids the warning below; a downloaded zip needs one extra step the first time.
macOS says it can't verify the developer. What do I do?

That's because Yap isn't notarized (see above). It's a one-time step:

  1. Open Yap once and close the warning.
  2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
  3. Next to "Yap was blocked to protect your Mac", click Open Anyway and confirm with your password.

Right-click › Open no longer skips this on macOS 15 and later. Installing with Homebrew (above) removes the quarantine flag, so the warning never appears.

Yap 收费吗？
app 免费开源。只有云端转写要花钱：通过 Yap Cloud，或者用你自己的 OpenRouter key。本地模型不花钱。
支持哪些语言？

和 VoiceInk 有什么不同？
Yap fork 自 VoiceInk，加了 Yap Cloud、可同步的配置文件，以及为中英混说调好的默认设置。VoiceInk 是官方的、经过 Apple 公证的版本。
为什么没有经过 Apple 公证？
每个版本都用同一张自签名证书签名，所以更新后 macOS 会保留你给的权限，但没有经过 Apple 公证（公证需要付费的 Apple 开发者账号）。用 Homebrew 安装不会遇到下面的提示；直接下载的 zip 第一次打开要多一步。
Mac 提示“无法验证开发者”怎么办？

这是因为 Yap 没有经过 Apple 公证（见上一条）。只需要处理一次：

  1. 先打开一次 Yap，把提示关掉。
  2. 打开“系统设置 › 隐私与安全性”，往下滚到“安全性”。
  3. 在“已阻止‘Yap’以保护你的 Mac”旁边点仍要打开，输入密码确认。

macOS 15 起，右键 › 打开已经不能跳过这一步。用 Homebrew 安装（见上面）会自动去掉隔离标记，不会出现这个提示。
